SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT

YOU, THE END USER, SHALL USE THIS SOFTWARE INCLUDING ANY FUTURE RELEASES, REVISIONS, UPDATES OR ENHANCEMENTS TO THE SOFTWARE (COLLECTIVELY, "THE SOFTWARE") ACCORDING TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT (gTHIS AGREEMENTh).
BY INSTALLING OR USING THE SOFTWARE, OR CLICKING ON THE "ACCEPT"
BUTTON, YOU ARE AGREEING TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT ACCEPT THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT, YOU MAY NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE INTO ANY COMPUTER.

1. Grant of License

The Software is licensed for use by you for the equipment packaged with the Software or designated by its supplier or us ("the Equipment"). You are permitted to use the Software on any computer which permits electronic access to the Equipment. You are not permitted to rent or lease the Software or to transfer your rights under this license to a third party.

2. Duration

The license of the Software under this Agreement is effective until terminated. The license of the Software under this Agreement will terminate where you fail to comply with the terms of this Agreement. Upon termination, you agree to destroy all copies of the Software and its documentation. 

3. Ownership of Software

You own, if any, only the magnetic media on which the Software has been delivered. It is an express condition of this Agreement that the right, title and interest in and to the Software shall be retained by us or our licensors.

4. Copying

You may not make any copies nor cause any person to make copies of the Software except such copies as are necessary for licensed use and one copy for operational security. Any such copies are subject to the conditions of this Agreement.
You may not modify, adapt, merge, translate, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or create derivative works based on the whole or any part of the Software or its associated documentation.
You may be held legally responsible for any copyright infringement, unauthorized transfer, reproduction or use of the Software or its documentation.

5. Future Release

You acknowledge and agree that any future releases, revisions, updates or enhancements to the software may be automatically installed in your computer.

6. Third Party Programs

You acknowledge that the Software may contain software programs, code or libraries owned by third parties and/or licensed pursuant to one or more open source software licenses (gThird Party Programsh). Your use of such Third Party Programs is subject to additional terms and conditions which may be found in the installation text files or download media that we may provide to you in connection with the Software. Only when expressly permitted by applicable law without the possibility of contractual waiver or required by the license terms of a Third Party Program, we waive the prohibition in Section 4 against reverse engineering or decompiling, but only for the limited purpose required by the applicable license or law and not to create any software which is substantially similar to the Software. Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary, all Third Party Programs are furnished by us without support, gas ish and without any warranties of any kind, express or implied.

7. USERfS INFORMATION

YOU CONSENT TO THE COLLECTION AND TRANSMISSION BY THE SOFTWARE OF INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR COPIERS, PRINTERS, MULTI FUNCTIONAL DEVICES, AND YOUR COMPUTERS TO OUR REMOTE SERVER, WHICH MAY BE LOCATED OUTSIDE THE COUNTRY WHERE YOUR DEVICES ARE LOCATED. THE INFORMATION MAY INCLUDE, BY WAY OF ILLUSTRATION AND NOT LIMITATION: (I) IDENTIFICATION OF ANY NETWORKED OUTPUT DEVICE (E.G., MAKE, MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBER) AND INFORMATION IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR COMPUTER (E.G., OPERATING SYSTEM NAME AND ITS VERSION), (II) DEVICE USAGE, METER AND DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION (E.G., NUMBER OF PAGES PRINTED, ERROR CODES, ETC.), AND (III) VERIFICATION OF LICENSE COMPLIANCE. THIS SOFTWARE CANNOT AND DOES NOT COLLECT DOCUMENT CONTENT OR PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU. WE MAY ALSO USE THIS INFORMATION FOR ITS REGULAR BUSINESS PURPOSES INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT, RESEARCH AND MARKETING, SO LONG AS THE INFORMATION IS COLLECTED ANONYMOUSLY IN A FORM THAT DOES NOT PERSONALLY IDENTIFY YOU.

8. Limitation of Warranty

The media, if any, not the Software contained therein, is warranted to the original purchaser against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original purchase of the Equipment. Defective media will be replaced when it is returned to your supplier, postage prepaid, along with a copy of the purchase receipt.
THESE RIGHTS ARE YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY, WHETHER IN TORT, CONTRACT, OR OTHERWISE. IN NO EVENT SHALL WE OR SUPPLIER, OWNER OF THE SOFTWARE OR THEIR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES (INCLUDING ANY FOR LOSS OF INFORMATION, PROFITS, SAVINGS OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR SPECIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE OR THE USE THEREOF, OR THE INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE.

9. Exporting Law

You acknowledge that the export of the Software is governed by the export control laws of the United States and other countries. You agree to comply with all such export control laws.

10. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

If any provision or portion of this Agreement shall be found to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. 
The governing law and jurisdiction for this Agreement will depend upon where you purchased or obtained the Software, as follows: 
(a) if you purchased or obtained the Software in the Americas, this Agreement shall be deemed made under the laws of the State of New York, USA, excluding the choice of law and conflict of law provisions, and any claim against us may be enforced or disputed only and exclusively in the courts of the State of New York, 
(b) if you purchased or obtained the Software in Europe, the Middle East or Africa, this Agreement shall be deemed made under the laws of the England, excluding the choice of law and conflict of law provisions, and any claim against us may be enforced or disputed only and exclusively in the courts of England, or 
(c) if you purchased or obtained the Software in the regions other than those provided in clauses (a) and (b) above, this Agreement shall be deemed made under the laws of Japan, excluding the choice of law and conflict of law provisions, and any claim against us may be enforced or disputed only and exclusively in the courts of Tokyo, Japan. 

To the extent permitted by local law, the parties hereto waive any right they may have to trial by jury.

Getting Started

Installing the printer driver

The installation procedure requires an administrator account or the ability to "Run as Administrator" in the Windows operating system.

Prior to installation, be sure to close all applications before installing the driver.
For installing the driver by using the "Add a Printer" feature in Windows, please refer to that operating system's Help section.

    1.   Run "RV_SETUP.exe", which is located in the same folder as this readme.
    2.   The "End User License Agreement" dialog will appear. If you agree with the terms and conditions, select "Agree" and click "Next".
    3.   The "Select a setup method" dialog will appear. 
    4.   To display network-connected devices, select "Network" and click "Next", proceed to Step 5a. 
         If a USB connection is desired, select "USB" and click "Next". Proceed to Step 5b. ("USB" might not be selectable depending on the device type.) 
    
    - Network -
    5a.  The "Select a device" dialog will appear. Select the device from the list of network-connected devices and click "Next". Then, proceed to Step 10a. 
         To change the driver name and/or the device name, select the "Manually enter the settings" checkbox. In that case, proceed to Step 9a. 
    6a.  If the device cannot be found, click "Click if you cannot find the device". The "Select a search method" dialog will appear.
             a. To specify the device's IP address, select "Specify device IP address" and click "Next". Then, proceed to Step 7a.
             b. If the device's port has already been configured or if a new port needs to be configured, select "Specify device name" and click "Next". Then, proceed to Step 8a.
    7a.  The "Search by IP address" dialog will appear. Enter the IP address and click "Search" to search for the device. If the device is found, click "Next". Then, proceed to Step 10a.
    8a.  The "Select a device" dialog will appear. Select a device and click "Next".
    9a.  The "Printer Preference" dialog will appear. Choose one of the following methods to set up the port: 
             a. If the port has already been registered, select the port to "Port Name".
             b. To specify a new port, click "Add Port". The "Add Port" dialog will appear and a new port can be added. After that new port has been added, the name of it will be selected.
    10a. When installation has completed, the "Complete" dialog will appear. Click "Finish".

    5b.  When the "Select Device" dialog appears, select the device name and click "Next". 
    6b.  When the "Select a driver" dialog appears, select the driver type and click "Next".
    7b.  When the"Preparation" dialog appears, disconnect the USB cable, turn off the device, and click "Next".
    8b.  After installation has completed, the dialog will change to the next steps of the installation. When the "Connection with device" dialog appears, connect the USB cable and turn on the device. When the device is detected, the dialog changes automatically.
    9b. The "Complete" dialog will appear. Click "Finish".


Upgrading the printer driver

If the printer driver is already installed, upgrade the printer driver.
Prior to installation, be sure to close all applications before upgrading the driver.

  1. Run "RV_SETUP.exe", which is located in the same folder as this readme.
  2. When the "End User License Agreement" dialog appears, if you agree with the terms and conditions, select "Agree" and click "Next"
  3. When the "Select a setup method" dialog appears, click "Update Driver"
  4. When the "Select the driver" dialog appears and upgradable targets are displayed, confirm and select "Update" and click "Next".
  5. When the "Complete" dialog is appears, select "Yes, restart now" and click "Finish" and restart your computer.
